Mr. Robert Hays Wiltshire

Mr. Robert Hays Wiltshire, 64 of Lumberton, passed away Saturday in Hattiesburg. Robert was the baby of 4 children, born December 22, 1953 in Carroll county, MS to Brown & Geneva (Campbell) Wiltshire. He grew up in the Carrollton area, and from an early age was very smart and mechanically inclined. He enjoyed being outdoors, walking, fishing, and would often watch animals, but never killed one. He loved tinkering with and fixing things. He was allowed to skip the 11th grade, and after graduating early, enlisted in the US Army where he served honorably. Following his military duty, he attended business school in Dallas, TX, and afterward worked in the insurance field for a while. He would meet Diana Sue Holston in Hattiesburg in 1986, and it was love at first sight. She remembers that he "refused" to leave, and convinced her to marry him, and she's glad she did. They made their home in Lumberton, spending the rest of life together happily. Robert is remembered as a soft spoken and kind-hearted man. An adoring husband, loving father and "Papa" to his grandchildren, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded by his parents, and one brother, Marshall Wiltshire. Left to cherish his mmories are: his loving wife of 32 years, Diana Sue; their daughter, Candace (Zack) Cobb of Hattiesburg, and sons, Robert H. "Beau" Wiltshire, Jr of NC, and Stephen "Brad" Gray of Hattiesburg; one brother, Homer (Carlene) Wiltshire, and a sister, Gertrude French, both of TN; eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, along with numerous friends. The family has set visitation from 6:00 until 9:00 PM on Wednesday evening, and from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Thursday morning at Trinity Funeral Services in Lumberton. Following an 11:00 AM chapel service Thursday morning, he will be laid to rest in the Ladner-Lee Cemetery by Hickory Grove Church. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Wiltshire family, and asks that everyone keep them lifted up in prayer over the coming days.
