Robert Charles Johnson, II, 62 of Gulfport, passed away May 11, 2024 at his home in Gulfport, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 06, 1961 in Pearisburg, VA, one of four and the only son to Robert Charles and Mary Sue (Lively) Johnson. Known as Bobby to those who knew him best, he spent most of his childhood years in Virginia. He loved the outdoors and honed his hunting and fishing skills early on. Bobby also enjoyed cars from an early age and enjoyed working on them. He would turn that passion into a career as a pretty good mechanic who could fix most anything. He attended Giles County High School in Pearisburg and went to work as a mechanic, getting paid to do something he truly enjoyed. The family moved to South Mississippi when Bobby was a teenager, and he has called the Coast home ever since. Bobby easily went to work as a skilled mechanic, spending about 15 years of his career with Firestone on Courthouse Road. He worked at a couple of other places, as well as doing work for friends and neighbors from his house along the way. He truly enjoyed mechanic work and helping people with their cars and trucks. He is lovingly remembered as a loving family man. His kids and grandkids were the world to him, and he did his best to pass along his skill and knowledge to them. Bobby was, to put it mildly, an opinionated guy as well. Never one to hold anything back, if it was on his mind, you would know about it. He continued to hunt and fish, take care of his Walkers, and get them ready for the next season. When he wasn't hunting, Bobby enjoyed relaxing with Max, his Jack Russell mix that was always with him. He enjoyed watching hunting and fishing shows on tv, mixing in some football along the way, and never missing an episode of COPs if he could help it. Bobby was a loving father and grandfather, and if he could find a way to irk you, well it just made his day. But that was just one of the many ways he showed his love for those closest to him. He loved talking, running his dogs, and just living life to the fullest. He will be forever missed by all whose life he touched. Bobby was preceded by his parents, Bob and Mary Sue Johnson, and one sister, Melissa Johnson. Left to cherish the many fond memories are: his children, Jeff (Deana) Johnson and Jessica (Eric) Renault, both of Gulfport, and twins Heath Johnson (Caitlyn Floyd) and Heather Johnson (Dylan McNeil), both of Biloxi; his former wives and children's mothers, Donna Sprague of Ocean Springs and Patricia Johnson of Gulfport, who remained his best friend; and his two sisters Via (Ricky) Austin of Latimer, and Robin Sweeney of D'Iberville, with his close cousin, Mike Johnson. Bobby leaves a legacy of eight grandchildren: Emily, Peyton, Colton, Hayes, Addison, Brantley, Malcolm, and Gavin, along with numerous extended family, friends, and happy customers through the years. Bobby's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 25th at Brodie Road Baptist Church in D'iberville. Friends are encouraged to come share memories with the family beginning at 1:00 PM, with a sanctuary service beginning agt 3:00 PM. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Johnson family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
