Robert Walter "Bobby" Burge, Jr.

March 15, 1940 — November 30, 2023

Crane Creek

Robert Walter Burge, Jr., known to most as Bobby, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on November 30, 2023, in Crane Creek, Mississippi. Bobby's journey began in Newellton, Louisiana, where he was born on March 15, 1940, to the late RW and Odell Davis Burge. The family later moved to Poplarville, where he graduated from Poplarville High School. For over three decades, Bobby served his community as a dedicated milkman for Borden’s Milk and Dairy Fresh Milk, delivering fresh milk to local stores and schools. His work was more than a job; it was a way to connect with his neighbors and friends. He also had a passion for music, basically becoming the human jukebox. As a talented musician, he mastered the guitar, piano, and singing, bringing joy to countless gatherings. His love for music was infectious, and he generously shared his knowledge, teaching many, including his own grandson, the art of guitar playing. His home was often filled with the sounds of "picking and singing," a testament to his love for melody and harmony. A man of deep faith, Bobby was a humble and devoted Christian. He served as a deacon and member of Crane Creek Baptist Church, where he also taught the youth for many years. Bobby’s life was one of selflessness and humor, always having many jokes and stories to share. He never met a stranger, and his ability to make others feel loved and important was one of his greatest gifts. His love for his family was unparalleled, and he cherished the time spent with them, especially during the family vacations to the Smokies, which became an annual tradition. Bobby's life was a beautiful melody, a song of love, faith, and family that will continue to play in the hearts of those he touched. He is preceded by his parents, RW and Odell Burge; in-laws, Jack and Toleda Shaw; and sister-in-law, Janie Necaise. Left to cherish his memories are the love of his life, his wife of almost 63 years, Diane Shaw Burge; his one and only daughter, Dinell, and son-in-law Tony Moran, who he considered like a son. Grandchildren; Ashton (Satchl) Burge and Maegan (Ryan) Strief; great-grandchildren, Noah Burge, Henry Burge, Emma Atwell, and Aubrey Strief; niece, Suzette (Mike) Necaise; nephew, Kurt (Kristie) Necaise; along with numerous family and friends. The family would like to give a special thank you to Vital Caring Home Health, especially Amanda Smith Wilson, Tracy Johnson, John Houston, and Keith Chighizola. Obituary details to follow. A Visitation will be held at Crane Creek Baptist Church from 10:00am - 12:00pm with a Funeral Service to Follow on Monday, December 4, 2023. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Burge family during this time and would ask that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
