Ricky Dean Thompson, Sr.

July 22, 1962 — August 29, 2021

Saucier

Ricky Dean Thompson, Sr., 59 of Saucier, passed away late Sunday evening at Singing River Hospital in Gulfport. He was the baby of four children to Billy L. and Nellie Inez (Wilmoth) Thompson, Sr. Born July 22, 1962 in Jackson, Ricky grew up on the Gulf Coast between Gulfport and Long Beach. While some are born with "silver spoons" in their mouths, Ricky had a wrench in his hand and loved to work on things. He was mechanically-minded, always wanting to know how things worked. Once in his younger days, he let the air out of his parent's tires, just to see how they were aired back up. And if that weren't enough, Ricky also poured water in their gas tank once, just to see if the vehicle would run on water! That's the kind of guy he was. Never one to hunt or fish, Ricky discovered dirt track racing. With his love and skills at mechanicing, he was never short of something to work on. After his educational pursuits, Ricky got his commercial license and has driven trucks ever since. He started out pulling mobile homes and graduated to hauling logs, which he has done for many years. Ricky is lovingly remembered as a guy with a weird, often sarcastic sense of humor. Described as rough around the edges, even a royal pain in the butt at times, he was a hard-working, straight-forward guy. If you didn't know how to take him, he could "ruffle your feathers" so to speak, but that was his way of showing affection. From nick-names to pranks, Ricky always had something going. He loved his family, his chihuahuas and his modified dirt track car, which he had a driver for. Once you got past the sarcastic exterior, he was a sweet, loving person who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded by his parents, Billy Lewis Thompson, Sr. and Nellie Inez Carter, his sister Liz Necaise and a son, Joseph King. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of twenty-five years, Sandra; their children: Ricky (Sabrina) Thompson, Jr. of Saucier, Ashley (Nikki) Thompson of Gulfport, John Thomas King of AL and Julia (Chad) Walker, also of Saucier. Ricky leaves a legacy of ten grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly, with a great-grand on the way that he would loved even more. His wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A memorial service will be set at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Thompson family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this time.
