Ricky Lavelle Fairchild

February 28, 1959 — August 24, 2020

Lumberton, MS

Ricky Fairchild, 61 of Lumberton, passed away at his home Monday afternoon.  He was born February 28, 1959 in Columbia, the tenth of fifteen children to Stanford Evan "Red" and Vaden Earline (Williamson) Fairchild. Ricky grew up in Lumberton, loving the outdoors from the start. He enjoyed playing with his brothers and sisters, doing things like riding his bicycle, hunting, fishing and whatever else they could get in to. Ricky's love of his bicycle evolved into motorcycles and cars as he grew older. In his life, he did endure a couple of accidents along the way, with a couple of those being quite serious too. Ricky was not one that enjoyed going to school either, so he began to do odd jobs around town until he reached 18 and could go to work in the oil field. He began as a roustabout and worked his way up to the position of driller/operator. There wasn't much Ricky couldn't do once he set his mind to it.  He is remembered as "Tricky Ricky" by his siblings and others, for his love of laughter and practical jokes. He was a "precious soul with a humble, giving heart" as well as a loving husband that worked hard and provided for his family. He did have his ups and downs in life, but he was loved by so many and will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched. Ricky was preceded by his parents, "Red" & Earline; five of his siblings: Carolyn, Barbara, Johnny Wayne and Jerry Fairchild, and Gail Walker. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife Betty, of 24 years to the day, and their son Logan, both of Lumberton; his daughter Crystal Fairchild of Bryan, TX; sisters Dale Warren and Faye Arnold, both of Denham Springs, Lynn Lindsey of Oak Grove, Pat (Royce) Holbrook of Sumrall, Helen (R.J.) Ladner of Lumberton and Wanda (Marty) Copeland of Ellisville, and brothers Kent (Barbara) and Dwight Fairchild, both of Lumberton, and Stanley (Sharon) Fairchild of Seneca; one grandson, Ricky Lee Fairchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, August 27th beginning at 11:00 AM at Trinity Funeral Services in Lumberton. A chapel service will begin at 2:00 PM and afterward Ricky will be laid to rest in the Brown Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the  Fairchild family in their time of need. Please keep Ms. Betty and the entire family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
