Rick Davis, 24 of Hattiesburg, passed away at his home off Lincoln Road on Saturday, June 23rd. He was born in Saginaw, MI on December 7, 1993, and grew up in Poplarville. A country boy at heart, Rick enjoyed most things outdoors, such as hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, baling hay, and so on. At 11, he gave his heart to the Lord, and was baptized at Red Hill Baptist Church where he attended. Recently he had been attending Venture Church in Hattiesburg. As a young man, Rick was a member of the 4-H Club, earning numerous awards showing cattle. He graduated from Coahoma County High School, a member of the Class of 2013, and went on to Coahoma Community College where he received a certificate in welding. He is remembered as a loving, outgoing son, a true "gift from God" by his parents. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Rick was preceded by his paternal grandfather, Walter Davis, Jr; and maternal grandmother, Naomi Chambliss. Left to cherish his memories are his parents, his mother Melissa (Brad) Crochet of Columbia; and his father, Ogwin Davis of Perkinston; his paternal grandmother, Daisy Davis of Perk, and his paternal grandfather, Oliver (Catherine) Chambliss of Lumberton. A graveside service will be held Friday, June 29th at 1:00 PM, in the Smith Cemetery in Magnolia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor, to the Baptist Children's Village. Please keep the family in your prayers during this difficult time.
