Richard Roland Whittington, Jr

On Wednesday, October 16, 2019, Richard "Ricky" Whittington Jr., a doting father of one, went to be with his Lord and Savior and his bride, at the young age of 68.  Richard, aka "Cedar Tree", was born on August 25, 1951 in New Orleans, the son of Richard Sr. and Joann (Dunham) Whittington. He graduated from Pass Christian High School, where his family lived until Hurricane Camille took their home in 1969.  Although he lived in several cities around the country, he has called Perkinston, MS home since 1989.  Once established in Perkinston, Ricky returned to school, obtaining a  Master’s Degree of Business from the University of Southern Mississippi.  With a passion for Harley’s, hunting and fishing, he also could be found strumming his guitar with a multitude of his friends.  Ricky was best known for his quick wit, crazy ways and being very opinionated.  A loving brother, father, and friend to many, he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Ricky was preceded by his father, Richard "Dick" Sr. and his mother Joann; paternal grandparents Charles and Elizabeth Avanelle Hill; maternal grandparents Romaine and Nelle Dunham; a cousin, Randy Dunham and an uncle, Richard (Dickey) Dunham.  Last, but certainly not least, his beautiful, loving wife, Suzie Whittington.  Left to cherish his memories are: his daughter, Rachel Whittington of TX; his only sister, Laurie (John) Caldwell and his favorite niece, Lauren Bailey and her daughter, Blakeney, with his nephew, Joshua (Jody) Bailey and their three children, Brittany, Elizabeth and Joshua, Jr., all of OK;  two stepchildren, Tari-jo Essary and Ann Marie Penton;  one granddaughter,  a great niece and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.  Services will be held Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry, with visitation from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a chapel service, with interment at Wiggins City Cemetery.  Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Whittington family and asks that you keep them in your prayers in this trying time.
