Mr. Richard Martin Levy

Mr. Richard M. Levy, 69 of McHenry, passed away at his residence on Friday evening. Richard was born April 30, 1948 in Bronx, NY, one of three children to Samuel and Rhoda Levy. He grew up on Long Island, where he graduated high school, and went on to college, earning a degree and making a career as a medical laboratory technician. Richard loved to travel, and worked in hospitals in New York and Florida. He retired to South MS in 2010, where he could often be found riding his bicycle. As he was riding one day, Judy Gentry from Lucedale passed him on the road and saw him. Over the next couple of weeks, fate brought them together, on they met for lunch one day. They were married on February 12, 2012, and spent every day together since. They enjoyed travelling around the country, visiting such sites as the Statue of Liberty, the Grand Canyon, and many others along the way, until illness prevented that. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 5 years, Judy Levy; step-children Jennifer Roddy (Wesley) of Little Elm, TX, Heath Gentry (Pam) of Dallas, TX, and Clyde Gentry (Sabrina) of Blue Mountain, MS; a sister, Mara L. King (Billy) of Fredericksburg, VA; and a brother, Stuart Levy (Evelyn) of Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded by his parents, Samuel and Rhoda Levy of Phoenix, AX. Richard requested to be cremated, and his ahses to be spread around the rose bushes at his and Judy's home in McHenry. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
