Richard Dale Griffin

Richard Dale Griffin, 66 of Cranes, passed away March 19, 2022 at his home. He was born August 03, 1955 in Jacksonville, FL, the youngest of seven children, and son of William Howard and Helen Frances (Dearman) Griffin. He grew up in the Carnes community where he loved playing outdoors, hunting, and fishing. Rich, as he was known to most, was also mechanically inclined, working on small engines and other things when he was growing up, and graduating to cars and trucks later on. He attended Forrest County Schools and made himself a career as a mechanic. Rich never had any children of his own, but over the years had many animals, most recently his little dachsund mix, Burt. He is remembered as an easy-going, sweet spirited person. He was the youngest of his siblings, and even then, would keep their secrets and not tattle on them. He was a loving brother, uncle, and a good friend to many, who will be sadly missed. Richard was preceded by his parents, William and Helen Griffin, his sister Tommy Smith, and his brother, Dwan Swilley. Left to cherish his memories are: his sisters, Karen Herrin of Carnes and Peggy Johnson of Tacoma, WA, and his brothers, Michael (Sandy) Griffin of Baton Rouge, LA and Howard (Wanda) Griffin of Brookhaven. Rich leaves his nephews Andrew (Treasie) Herrin of McHenry and Adam Herrin of Carnes, along with numerous additional extended family members and many friends. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring, with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
