Mr. Richard Ian Farmer, 88 of Natchez, passed away last week at Merit Health. The youngest of two sons to Herbert F. & Dorothy (Hughes) Farmer, Richard was born July 25, 1930 in Wilkinsburg, PA. He grew up in the Harrisburg area, and other cities as assigned while his father served in the US Army. After high school, Richard served in the US Air Force during Korea. Following his military service, he obtained his Juris Doctorate, and enjoyed a successful career in criminal law. He married Mary Katherine McMillen, and made their home in New Orleans where they attended Woodland Presbyterian Church. In retirement, Richard spent some time out West before settling in Natchez. He will be fondly remembered, and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Richard was preceded by his parents, Herbert & Dorothy Farmer, his wife Mary Katherine, and his brother Pete Farmer. He leaves his children, son John Farmer of Natchez, and daughter Elizabeth Buie of Seattle, WA; and four grandchildren, Katie, Ian, Eric, and Ethan, along with numerous friends, neighbors, clients, and associates through the years. His wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring, and he will be interred at the Natchez National Cemetery at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Farmer family in their time of need, and asks that everyone please keep them in their prayers during this trying time.
