Richard Eric Dedeaux, 74 of Poplarville, passed away Saturday, October 07, 2023 in Silver Run. He was born August 11, 1949 in Poplarville, the oldest of three children to Burnell Daniel and Jewel (Beech) Dedeaux. Richard grew up between Poplarville and Bogalusa, LA as part of a country family with a small farm. They raised cattle and had a garden every year, which was the norm for familes in the South. When there wasn't anything to do around the house, Richard loved to fish and tinker with stuff. He graduated from Bogalusa High School, went on to Pearl River where he graduated with an Associates in Forestry. From there, it was on to LSU for a while, then maybe some time at USM before settling in in Poplarville, raising cattle and farming his grandparent's land. He was a man of many talents, one of which was flying. Richard got his pilot's license somewhere in there and had his own small plane for several years. He loved to fly and would often take his wife and friends up. He enjoyed tractors, boats, and other equipment that he would acquire, and then have to tinker with. Many of his projects went unfinished, but that didn't really bother him since he always had something to do. Richard is remembered as a laid back, simple kind of guy that enjoyed laughing and hanging out with family and friends. He continued to love fishing, making fishing lures by hand as well. He also enjoyed hunting, birds for the most part, including ducks, doves, and even turkeys from time to time. Never one to just sit around the house watching the tv, Richard was always outside messing with some of his equipment, or he was pulling weeds. For all that he was, and as stubborn as he might have been, he will be forever loved and missed by all whose life he touched. Richard was preceded by his mother Jewel Dedeaux Boyd and his father, Burnell Dedeaux, along with his only brother, Terry Dedeaux. Left to cherish his memories are: his son Wade Dedeaux of Covington, LA, and his daughter Jessica (Katie) Dedeaux of Bartlett, TN; his sister Miriam (Percy) Billings of St. Louis, MO; his nephews Josh (Jenn) Billings and Seth Billings, along with his niece Amanda (Randy) Jennings. He leaves a legacy of two grandchildren: Declan and Addie Dedeaux, both of Bartlett, TN, along with numerous extended family, friends, and a lot of unfinished projects laying around at his house and beyond. Richard did not want anything "fancy", so the family is planning a graveside service in the Ladnier Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Dedeaux family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
