Richard “Rick” Joseph Carran, 66, of Saucier, MS, passed away at home on January 21, 2024 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Rick was born on September 1, 1957 in Iowa City, Iowa. He attended West High School in Iowa City, Iowa. Rick started his carpentry and construction career before graduating high school with Jerrie Rogers Construction. He was a very hard-working and talented carpenter. While living in Iowa, he had several hobbies, including bow-hunting, golfing and participating in Ragbrai a couple times. In 2014, he moved to Saucier, MS to live with his partner Alexa Rowell. When he wasn’t busy with carpentry work, Rick enjoyed spending his time tending to his chickens, gardening, golfing, watching his favorite shows Antique Road Show & Swamp Monsters and especially rooting for his favorite football team, Kansas City Chiefs. A special thank you to Alexa Rowell and her family for taking care of Rick during his battle with cancer. He made many friends during his lifetime and will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Rick is survived by his daughter, Brenna Schreifels; three grandchildren; two sisters, Teri (Steve) Dale and Joann (Bob) Mathias; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Patrick & Patricia Carran and his sister, Carrie Bengtson. A small ceremony and burial will be held in Williamsburg, Iowa at a later date.
