Richard Day Callahan

Richard Day Callahan, 67 of Brandon, passed away August 29, 2022 at Brandon Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born May 25, 1955 in Dobson, NC, the youngest of eight children to Joe Bailey and Lucille (Barnard) Callahan. Ricky grew up in Dobson and was and outgoing, athletic young man. He enjoyed being outside, playing and riding bicycles with his siblings and friends, and playing sports like baseball and basketball as well. Ricky attended Surry Central High School, graduating with the Class of 1974 and went on Surry Community College where he took some business courses. His family was in the glass business and after college, Ricky went to work in the glass business as well. He worked, owned, and operated A-1 Glass in Brandon for more than thirty-five years. He is remembered as a generous man with a very compassionate heart. Ricky always enjoyed getting together with friends and family, just reminiscing and relaxing. A loving brother, reliable businessman, and a trusted friend, Ricky will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched. he was preceded by his parents, Joe B. and Lucille Callahan, and brothers Joe W., James, and Charles Callahan. Left to cherish his memories are his siblings, brothers Danny Callahan of Brandon, Billy Callahan of Rock Hill, SC, Dennis (Lilly) Callahan of Matthews, NC, with his sister Hilda Jones of Dobson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family is planning a memorial service to be held at a later date, and he will be interred in a family plot in Dobson, NC.
