Richard "Rick" Allan Spies, 69, of Lumberton, MS., passed away unexpectedly on July 05, 2023, at his home with his wife. Rick was born on November 01, 1953, in Iowa to his parents, Marlin Richard and Jeanette Ruth (Rohwer) Spies. Rick enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, a hobby he and Diana shared together. Rick cheered for the Cardinals baseball team and enjoyed any sport his grandkids were involved in, you can guarantee Rick was sure to be rooting them on! He cherished the home he and Diana created and retired to here in Lumberton, Mississippi. Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Marlin and Jeanette Spies; and two sisters, Sandy Shoemaker and Linda Jean Voss. Left to cherish his memory, Rick's loving wife of thirteen and a half years, Diana Spies of Lumberton, MS; his children, Corey (Jenni) Spies of Davenport, Iowa, Jason Spies of Davenport, Iowa, Kyle Spies of Bettendorf, Iowa, Autumn Sims of Davenport, Iowa, Mitch (Nicole) Sims of Davenport, Iowa, and Blake (Abbi) Kirschbaum of Silvis, Illinois; and one sister, Nancy McMahon of Dewitt, Iowa. Rick leaves a legacy of seven grandchildren, including a very special granddaughter, Charli, who he had forged and created a special bond with before his passing that was unbreakable and definitely one that he cherished deeply; as well as one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews; his closest friends, Dave DelVichio of Bettendorf, Iowa; Danny Kessler of Tipton, Iowa; and his "special little buddy" Papa Joe Randles of Cole Valley, Illinois; and not to be forgotten, his four-legged pals, Titus and Helga. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Spies family during this time and asks that you remember Diana and their family in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Rick to help offset final expenses.
