Ricardo Antonio Sierra, 69, passed away on June 06, 2024 at his home in Moss Point, MS. He was born on Independence Day, July 04, 1954, in McAllen, TX, one of three children to Pedro Sierra and Oralia Perales. Richard, as he was commonly known, was adopted by Rogelio Ayala and grew up in the McAllen area. After his academic pursuits were done, he joined the US Army, serving 2 terms of honorable service during the Vietnam era. During his Army service, Richard rose to the rank of SP4 and spent just over three years on foreign soil. After his discharge, he returned to Texas and began a career as a carpenter in construction, working for Zachary Construction. Richard was a quick learner and loved carpentry work, spending his entire career in that field. Over the years, he had three sons and a daughter, all of whom he cared for deeply. In his work, he worked in several states, and developed a fondness for the Moss Point area. In retirement, Richard decided to buy himself an RV and make his home in Moss Point. He is fondly remembered as a "big hearted" guy who would help anyone, the type who would give the shirt off his back to someone he didn't even know. That alone caused him to have so many friends over the years. He was also an animal lover, and cared for them as well, so much so that he would by jewelry for them, have coffee with them every morning, and treated them as his children. Richard loved to fish, cook on his grill, and spend time with his grandchildren. For all that he was, his memories will be forever cherished by those who knew and loved him. He was preceded by his parents, Pedro and Oralia; his former wife Dora Sierra; and his chihuahua daughter, "Paige", and others through the years as well. Left to cherish his memories are: his daughter Melissa Sierra of San Antonio, TX, and sons Rick, Ralph, and Joey, all of Texas; and his former wife and close friend, Nellie Sierra. He leaves a legacy of at least eleven grandchildren, numerous extended family members, and many friends scattered across the states where he has been in life. His final wishes were to be cremated and interred in the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, which his family is honoring. A celebration of his life will be held at his home in Hidden Cove RV Park in Moss Point on Friday, June 14th around noon, so his local "family" can share memories of him before he is returned to Texas. Interment will occur at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Sierra family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
