Rhonda Renee Herndon, a beacon of kindness and love, was born on August 8, 1961, in Laurel, Mississippi. She embraced her journey through life with an unwavering spirit, a heart that overflowed with compassion, and an unmatched devotion to Alabama football, ROLL TIDE . Rhonda passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and dedication that will forever resonate within the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
Attending the Jones County School District, Rhonda laid the foundations of her life with a fierce determination, but it was when she met Denny Conn that she found her true calling as a devoted homemaker. In the nurturing embrace of her family, she flourished, embodying selflessness and boundless love. Rhonda's proudest accomplishments were the lives she built around her, serving as a beloved mother to her children and doting grandmother to her grandchildren. She reveled in the joys of family life, with memories of peaceful days spent together at the creek or the hunting camp—moments intertwined with laughter and love that painted her life’s canvas with vibrant hues.
Rhonda's gentle spirit was complemented by her love for the great outdoors. She felt most at home among nature, whether it was hunting, fishing, or boating in the Gulf, where she often dreamed of adventures near the oil rigs. Her playful spirit even led her family to a memorable rescue by the coast guard one sunny weekend; a testament to her thrill-seeking nature and penchant for turning simple outings into grand tales. And in the quiet moments, Rhonda found solace on her porch, surrounded by her cherished companions—her loyal dogs, Shooter, Baby, and Connie.
Rhonda was a mosaic of generosity and warmth, always putting others before herself. Those who knew her will remember her not only for her kindness and caring disposition but also for the laughter that filled any room she entered. Her spirit was a comforting presence, enveloping her family and friends in a blanket of support and love.
Rhonda leaves behind her devoted husband, Denny Conn; her stepmother, Mary "Jo" Herndon; her children, Josh Dockery and Tammy Conn; her sisters, Lynn Dungan and Sheila Wilson; her treasured cousin, Dawn Herndon; nieces, Ashley, Deborah, and Kerry; nephews, Derek and Taylor; and her cherished friend, "Sug" Lannie Hester and her family, Kevin and Gunner. She was a proud grandmother to Blayton, Joseph, Hannah, Courtney, and Christina, as well as numerous extended family and friends, each of whom carries a piece of her heart and spirit forward into the world.
As we mourn the loss of Rhonda Renee Herndon, we also celebrate her remarkable life—a life woven with the threads of love, family, and friendship. She is preceded in death by her parents, Betty Graves Herndon and Mack Herndon, and her son, Jake Dockery. Though she may have left this earthly realm, the legacy of kindness she instilled will continue to inspire all who knew her. Rhonda’s spirit will forever dance in the hearts of her loved ones, reminding us to cherish each moment, to love deeply, and to embrace the beauty of life with open arms. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Herndon and Conn families in their time of need and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
