Regina Ann Cuevas

December 23, 1959 — April 28, 2022

Gulport

Regina "Jeanie" Ann Cuevas, 62 of Gulfport, passed away on April 28th at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans. Known by most everyone as Regina, she was born December 23, 1959, the only child and daughter of Wilton and Deloris (Saucier) Ladner. She grew up in the Lizana community in rural Harrison County and enjoyed the country life. Regina learned to cook and sew, perfecting those skills over the years. When she discovered Mardi Gras however, she had found herself a life-long hobby that she truly loved, attending and participating in parades and other events annually for many, many years. She spent her life taking care of her home and family. If a family member was sick or needed personal care, Regina was there. In her spare time, she enjoyed the monthly Bunko game night with her friends, going camping, fishing, gardening, and working the concession stand at the youth center. Most of her family knew her as "Memaw", and she was always cooking. She loved to cook for family get-togethers and holiday events, making some of the best dressing from her dad's famous recipe. Regina was a member of the Krewe of Legacy, and was named Queen for the coming year. While she had a bit of a "feisty" side, she was definitely a family woman. A loving and protective wife, mother, grandmother, Regina loved everyone, and everyone loved her. She was the community seamstress, loved her animals, and enjoyed shopping, but she will surely be remembered for always being late! A 'one of a kind" woman, she will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose life she touched. Regina was preceded by her parents, Wilton and Deloris Ladner, and her first husband, Mark Cuevas. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband of more than 35 years, Travis Cuevas; their children, daughters Monica (Yancy) Phillips of Saucier, Theresa (Matt) Crawford of Bay St. Louis, Shelley (Desmond) Pavolini of Kiln, and Tasha (Colton) Mast of Gulfport, with a son, Joseph (Laura) Cuevas, also of Gulfport. Regina leaves a legacy of six grandchildren: Sarah-Marie Burns, Konner Phillips, Caden Crawford, Lilly Cuevas, Chloee Crawford, Brody Cuevas, and Kaitlyn Hazen expecting her first soon-to-be great-grandchild,  that Regina was so looking forward to, along with untold numbers of extended family, friends, fellow Krewe members, and more. Services are set for Wednesday, May 4th at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by a chapel service at 1:00 PM. Afterward she will be taken, on her float, to Wolfe River Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.
