Rander Joseph Ruiz Jr., a proud Vietnam Era Veteran, passed away on January 08, 2025. Born with an innate connection to the water, Rander dedicated much of his life as a crew boat captain in the oil industry. In 1987, his crew boat performed a heroic rescue, saving two airmen who had crashed their helicopter in the ocean—a testament to his bravery and dedication.
Beyond his career, Rander was a master fisherman, known for his unmatched skill in bass fishing and his ability to catch anything from the depths. He loved sharing his passion, often spending his off time teaching others how to fish and passing on his wealth of knowledge.
Rander found peace and inspiration in nature, capturing stunning photographs of sunrises, birds, and serene waterscapes. A gifted wood carver and lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed raising pigeons and had a deep affection for animals. His dry sense of humor and quick wit made him the life of every gathering, charming everyone he met. A sports enthusiast with a particular love for Alabama football, Rander could talk about sports for hours, leaving everyone in awe of his knowledge.
A man of equality and compassion, Rander saw everyone as deserving of kindness and respect. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, living with a sense of humor that brightened countless lives.
Rander is preceded in death by his parents, Rander Ruiz Sr. and Ellen Ruiz; and his beloved brothers, Edward Ruiz and Denny Ruiz. He is survived by his loving brothers, Harvey Ruiz, Stanley (Ruth) Ruiz, and Peyton (Iris) Ruiz, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory and carry forward his legacy. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Ruiz Family and ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during these difficult times.
