Ralph Daniel Smith

Ralph Daniel Smith, 91 of Gulfport, Mississippi, peacefully passed away on Friday morning on October 16, 2020. He was born on February 28, 1929 in Delisle, Mississippi where he was also raised. Ralph was a combat veteran of The Korean War where he was awarded a Bronze Service Star. After the war, Ralph returned home and became a long-haul truck driver. He will be remembered for his love of animals, especially dogs, and the care he provided to any stray he found. He will be missed by his companion, family and friends.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace H. Smith, Sr. and Matilda Pavolini, his brother, Wallace H. (W.H.) Smith, Jr. and his grandson, Christopher (Chris) Smith. He is survived by his companion of almost 40 years, Joyce Walls, his son, Mike Smith (Susan), his daughter Meredith Anderson (Lloyd), his grandchildren, Brandon Smith(Nicole), Kevin Smith(Chrissy), Olen Anderson(Kayla), Davy Anderson(Annette), Vicky Anderson Grant(Don) and Casey “Dusty” Anderson(Robin). He also leaves 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

His final wishes were to have a simple graveside service when he is interred next to his parents and brother. The service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport, Mississippi.
