Ralph “Rip” Edward McCarty, 68, passed away on June 6, 2023, in Wiggins, MS. He was born on August 29, 1954, in Wiggins, MS, to his parents Henry and Johnnie McCarty.
Rip was a dedicated individual, serving in the Navy, Navy Reserve, and later working as a US Division Manager for Schlumberger International Oil Company. Rip's adventurous spirit and dedication to his work were evident throughout his life. He served his country with pride and courage as an independent contractor within the Navy during the Vietnam War in Saigon. His family affectionately referred to him as a "vagabond with a job" due to his commitment to various roles and his love for exploring new opportunities. As a safety engineer and US Division Manager for an international oil company, Ralph showcased his exceptional intelligence and problem-solving skills. He possessed a remarkable ability to build and fix anything, earning him a reputation as someone who could tackle any challenge. His colleagues and peers held him in high regard, recognizing his expertise and respecting his work ethic. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rip had a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. He found joy in riding his motorcycle, indulging in hunting trips, and pursuing the art of fly fishing. An avid listener of stringed instruments, he relished the melodies that resonated with him. Ralph's proudest role was that of a father, and he cherished the moments spent with his son, Kaleb McCarty. Rip's presence will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered as a resilient and remarkable individual. Tuff as nails and wise beyond his years, he embodied the qualities of a true gentleman. His legacy of intelligence, resourcefulness, and hard work will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him.
Rip is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Johnnie McCarty; and two siblings, Butch McCarty, and Rhonda McCarty. He is survived by his loving son, Kaleb McCarty, and his brother, Michael (Cissy) Carter, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
