McHenry

Philip Alan Hunolt, known affectionately as Phil to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, at the age of 76 at his home in McHenry, MS. Born on October 28, 1948, in Chicago, IL, Phil was a beacon of light and laughter to all who knew him. He was the beloved son of the late Glen Nelson Hunolt and Elaine Jeanne Hunolt (Rogers). Phil's life was marked by his unwavering kindness, his thoughtful nature, and his unique sense of humor that could brighten the darkest of days. He was a devoted father to his children, who will cherish his memory and the countless moments of joy and wisdom he shared with them. Professionally, Phil was a respected manager at AON, a worldwide computer and software center in Winston-Salem, NC. His colleagues knew him as a man of integrity and dedication, always willing to go the extra mile to ensure success for his team and the company. His work ethic was matched only by his commitment to his faith; as a Christian, Phil lived his life as a testament to the values of love and service to others. Phil's passions extended beyond the walls of his office. He was an avid storm chaser, a hobby that spoke to his adventurous spirit and awe of nature's power. Music, too, was a constant source of joy for Phil. His love for melodies and rhythms spanned all genres, reflecting the depth and diversity of his character. He loved karaoke and serving as one of Santa's official helpers during the holiday season.  During his retirement, Phil enjoyed volunteer work for six years with the American Red Cross, where he helped with disaster relief cleanup from Tennessee to the Gulf Coast.  In remembering Phil, one is reminded of the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Phil embodied this sentiment, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he encountered. Phil was preceded in death by his brothers, Gregg and Jon Hunolt, along with a granddaughter, Lindsay Hargis. His legacy will live on in the lives of his children, Geoffrey (Emily) Hunolt, Joe (Amber) Hunolt, Kristy McMahan, Kim (Scott) Cowger, and Monica Hunolt; his fourteen grandchildren, Kira, Lily, Connor, Kaidy, and Julia Hunolt, Kaley Kemp, Steven Hargis, Madison and Kayci Keller, Kyle Holliday, Timothy Spence, Cody Morville, and Misty Morville, and Laycie Cowger; his long-time companion and partner, Sharon Seelnacht; as well as numerous extended family and friends he met through the years. As we bid farewell to Philip Alan Hunolt, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and passion, a life that exemplified the very best of what it means to be human. His legacy of laughter, kindness, and love will continue to inspire and guide us as we fondly smile and remember quotes like, "I've been around since the Dead Sea just was sick!". Phil's memory will be a treasure held dear, a light that continues to shine in the lives of his family, friends, and all who were privileged to know him. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Hunolt family in their time of need and asks everyone to remember them in your thoughts and prayers.
