Perkinston

Pernell “Peanut” James Ladner, 61, of Perkinston, Mississippi, passed away on March 05, 2025, at his home. Pernell was born one of six, on July 28, 1963, in Donaldsonville, LA to his parents Jimmie Ray and Gwendolyn (Bourgeois) Ladner. Pernell grew up loving the outdoors, he did some hunting and a little fishing, but mostly he loved working with his hands. At the ripe age of sixteen, Pernell left school for the working world and began his first job at McDonalds. He then left there and began working on job sites learning the carpentry trade while building houses. Pernell would go on to master his carpentry skills and even travel as far as Germany for a job. If Pernell was building it, then you knew it would be done right. He loved working different jobs and building unique things for his customers. Aside from work, Pernell found a love for motorcycles, owning five at one time. Seeing a motorcycle group on the road could turn any bad day around and lift his spirits. When Pernell became disabled and could no longer hold his hammer, he enjoyed retirement with his buddies playing cards and shooting dice. Pernell was a generous man, always kind, fun loving, and good with kids. He will be immensely missed by all who knew and loved him. Pernell is preceded in death by one daughter, Dusti Graham; his father, Jimmie Ray Ladner; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Sedonia (Cuevas) Ladner; maternal grandparents, Acklin Bourgeois and Rose Mary Gaudin; and two brothers, Randall Ladner and Joey Ladner. Left to cherish his memory; his momma, Gwendolyn Shiyou; one brother, Bradley (Charnis) Ladner; and two sisters Angela (Earl) Ainsworth and Myrtis (Malcom Ladner) Cuevas. Pernell leaves behind a legacy of numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends whom he loved very much. Services for Pernell will be held at a later date provided by the family. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Ladner family and we ask that you remember Ms. Gwen in your thoughts and prayers over the difficult days ahead.
