Mr. Paul Edward Gentry Sr

December 25, 1943 — February 7, 2017

Mr. Paul E. Gentry, Sr, 73 of Saucier, passed away at Garden Park Hospital in Gulfport on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Paul was born on Christmas Day 1943, the oldest of 4 children to Paul Pitt and Lee Opal Gentry. He grew up in the small town of Bayview, Alabama in the Birmingham area. Following high school, he attended and graduated from the University of Alabama. Paul enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, and was a die-hard Crimson Tide fan. He made a career as a pipefitter, working through the Pipefitters Local 436 in Pascagoula. In retirement, he enjoyed spoiling his grand daughter, Christina, relaxing, and watching the History channel when there wasn't a race or an Alabama football game on. Paul will be remembered as a jovial man who loved a good joke; a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Barbara Joyce; his sons, Paul Jr. of Saucier, and Jeffery Scott Gentry of Gulfport; one sister, Rendy Gentry of Gulfport, and a brother, Donnie Gentry (Ruth Ann) of Hope, AR; his granddaughter, Christina Gentry of Saucier, 5 other grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Paul was preceded by his daughter, Regina Gentry; a son, Dewayne Gentry; his parents, Paul & Opal Gentry; and a brother, James Gentry. His wishes were to be cremated, which his family is following. The family would like to extend a very special THANK YOU to Gracie Flurry, RN and the staff of MS. Home Care, and the staff of Halcyon Hospice, for all they did for Paul and Barbara over the past few years. A date and time for a memorial service has not yet been set. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to assist Ms. Barbara and the Gentry family in their time of need.
