Ms. Patsy Bates Davis

December 7, 1937 — July 18, 2017

Patsy Davis, 79 of the Magnolia community, passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by her family. Patsy was born December 7, 1937 in Oak Grove, one of 6 children to Will & Minnie Bates. She grew up in Saucier, a bonafide country girl from the start. She enjoyed the farm and country life, loved animals, and made her career taking care of her home and family, whom she adored. Patsy was a hard working lady that loved to laugh, and had many stories and jokes to tell, causing others to laugh along with her. Her happiest times were at family gatherings around the table, enjoying a meal that she prepared. If you were a friend of hers, you were a part of her family. She also loved her church, cooking, travelling, and would always dress "to the T". She will be very sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Patsy is survived by her children, daughters Audry Gayle Hendry and Leslye Ann (Terry) Cuevas, both of the Magnolia community; sons Bennis Raymond (Marie) Powell of Vancleave, and Kenneth E. Powell of San Antonio, TX; her brothers, Jack (Pat) Bates of Wiggins, and William L. (Edna) Bates of Canton, MS; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grands, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, Jack W. Davis; her former husband, Bennis R. Powell, Sr.; her parents, Will & Minnie Bates; 2 sisters, Idell Shavers and Estelle Anderson; and her brother, David Bates. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, July 22, from 10 AM until noon, at Maranantha Baptist Church where Patsy was a faithful member for over 20 years. The funeral service will be at noon in the sanctuary at Maranantha, followed by interment in the church cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to her granddaughters, Crystal Holliman and Ashley Cuevas for their loving care for their grandmother, and to the staff at Southern Hearts Hospice for everything they did for her. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve Leslye and all the family in this difficult time, and asks that you keep them in your prayers in the coming days.
