Patricia Davis, age 83, of Lumberton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. Patricia, or Pat as she was lovingly known, was born on July 18,1940 in Gulfport, MS. She grew up in Jackson, MS and later moved to Purvis, MS. Pat worked at Lumberton hospital where she met the love of her life, Donald “Butch” Davis. The two married on June 15, 1973 and made their home in Lumberton, where they raised their family. Butch and Pat were married for 50 loving years and he often referred to her as his rock and the one who held the family together. She took great pride in being a homemaker, creating a loving, peaceful home. Pat had such a strong love for the Lord and her church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Her pride and joy was her family and her “funny farm”. Pat had a passion for her animals, naming each and everyone of them and loving when she had a baby animal on a bottle to care for. She enjoyed growing a garden and looked forward to having extra to share with her friends and family. Being one of her children or grandchildren, you knew when you went to visit her, you would be fed well and never leave with an empty stomach. Pat will be remembered for many things, but her kindness and love that she always gave, will stand out the most to all who knew and loved her.
Pat was preceded by her mother Stella Wheeler, and her son Bo Maddox. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband, Donald "Butch" Davis; daughters: Cindy (Johnny) Pearrow of Lumberton, Debbie (Alan) Duncan of Kiln, and Angie (Kim) Davis of Gulfport; and one brother, Wayman (Pat) Wheeler. Pat leaves a legacy of ten grandchildren: Zena (JD) Zugg, Jared (Megan) Duncan, Davis and Reilly Duncan, Nikki Shows, Vikki (Brandon) Maddox, Meagan (Zac) Bowman, Landon Pearrow, Ian Davis, and Payton Davis, along with eleven great-grands, and numerous extended family and friends. Services will be held at Hickory Creek Baptist Church in Lumberton, where she attended for more than 50 years. Visitation will begin at 5:00 until 8:00 PM, with a second time at 10:00 AM Wednesday morning. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, with Bros. Jesse Ladner, Jacob Smith, Glen Stuart, and Gary Hickman officiating. Afterward, Patricia will be laid to rest in the Davis Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Davis family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
