OJ Dedeaux

September 13, 1941 — September 15, 2025

"Well, OJ finally got on the bus... but he didn't catch the first one".

OJ Dedeaux, 84, of Silver Run, received his eternal healing on September 15, 2025, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his daughter's home in Pass Christian. OJ was born on September 13, 1941, in Perkinston to his parents, Levi and Daisy (Swilley) Dedeaux. OJ grew up in Perkinston, learning hard, honest work at a young age on his family's dairy farm, often beginning his days at 3:00 a.m. He loved the outdoors and never turned down an opportunity to fish or hunt. OJ loved being in his garden, tending to his crops, raising honeybees, and making birdhouses for his frequent visitors. Aside from farming, OJ became an expert welder, where he was well known in the shipyard. From teaching classes to test runs to being the only guy who could fit in tight spots to get the job done, OJ was a master when it came to welding. OJ surrendered his life to the Lord in the early 70s, and if there was one thing he and Ms. Yvaughen made sure of, it was raising their family in church. He loved Jesus and was not afraid to share the good news far and wide. OJ loved his family, and they rest assured knowing he is rejoicing with his bride in heaven today. OJ is preceded in death by his wife, Yvaughen (Bangs) Dedeaux; one grandson, Justin Levi Holmes; his parents, Levi and Daisy Dedeaux; and two sisters, Maxine Parker and Idell Dubuisson. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Gary (Debra) Dedeaux, Greg (Marshella) Dedeaux, Ginger (Mike) Holmes, and Guy (Kristi) Dedeaux; twelve grandchildren, Grant (Hannah) and Joshua (Brittany) Dedeaux, Brandon (Emily), Nathan, and Amber Dedeaux, Bradley Holmes, Haley (Hunter) Wiggins, and Riley Holmes, Stephanie and Andrew (Jennifer) Dedeaux, and Bentley and Holden Sharer; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Sonny Dedeaux; his close friend, Sherry Triplett, and close friend and caregiver, Sara Ransdell, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Joseph's Hospice and Trinity Funeral Services staff, who took exceptional care of Mr. OJ.  In place of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to St. Joseph's Hospice in honor of Mr. OJ to help other families in need during times such as these. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Dedeaux family during this time and would ask that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
