Mrs. Myrtle Willene Goshorn, 74 of Jackson county, passed away Wednesday, May 2nd at Singing River Hospital. She was born July 14, 1943 in Heath Springs, South Carolina, the oldest of two children to William & Myrtle Horton. Willene grew up there in Heath Springs, and was a kind and compassionate young lady. After graduating high school, she obtained her BS degree in nursing and began working as an RN. She met the love of her life, John Goshorn, in the early 1960s, and they were married November 23, 1966. He worked in construction, and they moved around somewhat. They would eventually make their home in Jackson county, and when their son came along in 1974, Willene stepped away from nursing to focus on her family and home. She is remembered as a loving wife and devoted mother that truly loved her family. An outgoing, friendly lady that enjoyed amateur photography and collected dolls, the family attended St. John Episcopal Church in Pascagoula for many years. She will be sadly missed, and fondly remembered by all whose life she touched. Willene was preceded by her parents, and her only brother, Earl Horton. Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband, and best friend for over 51 years, John L. Goshorn, and their son, Christopher, both of Moss Point; one grandchild, Dylan Thomas Rice, along with many neighbors, friends, and extended family. Her desire was to be cremated, which her family is honoring. A memorial service for Willene may be set for a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Goshorn family in their time of need, and asks that everyone keep Mr. John and the entire family in your thoughts and prayers.
