Murry Dodson, 76 of Perkinston, passed away early Tuesday morning at his home. Murry came from a large family, the 7th of 8 children to William Horace & Emily Gertrude Dodson. He was born May 10, 1941 in Summerville, TN, and spent some of his early childhood in that area. He grew up an outdoors enthusiast, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping. Murry made a career as a carpenter, but was also a man of many talents. He was one of the best "shade-tree" mechanics around, and a pretty good electrician to boot. He was, by all accounts, an amazing man in many ways. He had a vivid imagination, and loved spinning the tallest of tales. Murry wound up in South MS many years ago, and had lived the past 18 years at Red Creek RV Park in Perkinston with his wife, Jan. He retired working in maintenance at Stone High School. He will be fondly remembered, and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Murray was preceded by his parents, along with most of his siblings, brothers James, Aubrey, Carl, David, and Bill, and a sister, Nelda. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Jan Marie Dodson; his 2 children, a son William Dodson of Long Beach, and his daughter Tracee Dodson of Tuscaloosa, AL; one sister, Shirley Dodson Sanders of Richland, MS; eight grandchildren; his ex-wife who still cared for him, Mary Janice Bursell of McHenry; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends scattered all over. Murry was a simple country man, and wished to be cremated, which his family is following. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to assist the Dodson family in this trying time. Please keep the Dodson family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
