Micheal "Mike" Dean Holland, 70, of Long Beach, MS., passed away on January 10, 2026, at Memorial Woodland Village Nursing Center in Diamondhead, MS. Mike, as he was lovingly known, was born one of seven children, on July 7, 1955, in Gulfport, MS. Mike lived a simple life, "doing it his way", as he often reminded his family and friends. He began his work life at just fourteen years young, learning vehicle mechanics with his brothers, at the family business, known as Sample's Five Point. Mike was a talented construction worker who earned the trust and work of numerous local contractors. He never reserved his comments, and Mike was known to laugh at you whether you had done good or bad. "YOU BIG DUMMY" was a common greeting he used for those closest to him. Born into a large family, Mike never hesitated to tell his siblings he was SO glad he never had children, but always had a nickname for his nieces and nephews, and he genuinely loved them all. BIG MIKE, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE LOVED AND MISSED. Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Louise Sample; and two brothers, George Holland and Jeffery (Speck) Holland. He was survived by his two sisters, Ada (Eddie) Ladner and Regina (David) Yarborough; two brothers, Marty Holland and Albert (Brenda) Sample; step-father, Jimmy Sample; his sister-in-law, Cindie Holland; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to the employees of Woodland Village for the care and dedication over the last five years. He never had a complaint about how he was cared for, as he genuinely loved them all and always appreciated the excellent care he received. Services for Big Mike will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Allen Cemetery in Long Beach, MS., beginning at 1:00 pm for a graveside service. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Holland family, and we ask that you remember them all in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days ahead.
