Michael Adam Willard

March 13, 1962 — June 19, 2021

Kiln, MS

Michael Adam "Mike" Willard, 59, passed away early Saturday morning, June 19th at his home in Kiln. He was the son and fourth of six children to Earl and Catherine (Zanbroski) Willard, born March 13, 1962 in Gulfport. Mike grew up in Gulfport where he enjoyed fishing, camping, mud riding and more. He quickly became a "wild and rambunctious" young man who had a taste for adventure. He began building dune buggys, which in turn led to race cars and trucks. He learned all he could from those around him and quickly became an above average mechanic. There wasn't much he couldn't fix when it came to motors, which led to a successful career as a mechanic. In 1999, he met Robin in an AOL chat room, for those who remember those. The more they chatted, the more sparks began to fly. They married a year later and remained happily together for over 22 years, making their home in Kiln. Mike is remembered as a loyal, loving and trustworthy guy that "meant what he said and said exactly what he meant". He definitely was one that always kept his word. He wasn't much for going out on the town, preferring instead to stay at home with Robin. He normally had the Discovery Channel, Science channel or something of that nature on the tv, with his favorite program, Forged in Fire going when possible. When they did go out, you could usually find them at the drag strip, or one close by anyway. Mike had a 1976 Chevy Luv that he built and drove, running in the high 9's on a regular basis, thanks to the 468 Big Block Chevy motor that he built for it. A loving husband, father and friend, Mike will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded by his father, Earl and his brother, Todd Willard. Left to cherish the many fond memories are: his loving wife and soul mate, Robin; their children: "Little Mike" (Candace) Willard of Mobile, AL, Ben (Brandi) Cade of Minden, LA and Shaun (Sarah) Cade of Haughton, LA; his mother, Catherine Breland and brothers Wade Willard and Chad (Beth) Willard, all of McHenry, his sister Cathy (John) Rhear of Gulfport and his brother Joey (Elaine) Willard of Lumberton. Mike leaves a legacy of seven grandchildren with numerous extended family, friends and neighbors through the years. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A celebration of his life will be held at the Willard home at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Willard family in their time of need. Please keep Robin and all of them in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
