Michael Donovan Griffith, 51, passed away September 25, 2023 at his home in Ocean Springs, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 28, 1972 in Biloxi, the only child to Johnny Ray Griffith and Sandi (Williams) Spurgeon. Mike as he was known to most, grew up in Long Beach primarily where he developed a true passion for fishing. Every opportunity the man had, he was on the water somewhere. Hunting was also something he enjoyed, but his preference was hunting fish! Mike attended Long Beach High until he had his fill, got his GED and went to work so he could better support his fishing habit. Construction was his forte where he began in roofing, eventually making his way to painting and home restoration. He started his own business and ran it for many years. In his spare time, he usually had a fishing pole in his hand, trying for redfish mostly, but the bass weren't safe either. When he wasn't fishing, which was rare, he enjoyed travelling, some hiking, and spending time with his family and dogs. Mike is remembered as simply a great dad. A kind, gentle man who was always laughing, he enjoyed a good joke but usually had one to share in an effort to get you laughing as well. Mike was one that would actually go out of his way to help anyone, which tells you what kind of guy he truly was. When he wasn't providing for his family, he was fishing somewhere. A simple, down-to-earth man who loved his family and friends, he will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched. Mike was preceded by his father, Johnny Griffith. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving fiance' Angela Dee Moore and his son, Robert (Alex) Moore, all of Ocean Springs; his daughter Michaela Griffith of Biloxi; his mother Sandi Spurgeon of Gulfport; and his four-pawed sons, "Tank" and "Gizmo". Mike also leaves his other pets and a host of friends, neighbors, and countless fish that will now be there for others to catch. Mike's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring, and they plan to hold a celebration of his life at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Griffith family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through this trying time.
