Michael Lee Hiley, 66, passed away on September 28, 2022 at at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. Michael was born on July 08, 1956 in Barberton, OH, the baby of three children to parents James and Dorothy Hatfield Hiley. He grew up in Ohio and enjoyed music from the start. Over the years, Michael had amassed a large music collection, with thousands of records, eight tracks, cassettes, and more. He also enjoyed movies, collecting hundreds of those as well. After graduating high school, he took heating and a/c courses and worked in HVAC for a brief time, discovering he really didn't like that field. He worked at a grocery store, then became an orderly at a local hospital. While there, Michael discovered that the medical field was the place for him, so he went back to school and became a paramedic. He worked for several years in the ER and back of ambulances there in Ohio, taking care of those in need. He was introduced to a hospital lab technician named Susan while working in the ER in Barberton. They began dating and were married in May of 1983, spending the rest of their lives together. Once they finished their careers, they retired to South MS, making their home here for the past 25 years. Michael was a loving family man who was a genuinely kind-hearted person. He did have a vibrant sense of humor and loved to joke and laugh. Michael enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, and taking care of his cats. Rather than biological children, him and Susan have had numerous cats through the years. He will be forever missed by all whose life he touched. Michael was preceded by his parents, James and Dorothy Hiley, and his brother David. Left to cherish his memories are: the woman he cherished for nearly forty years, Susan Hiley; and his sister Peggy (Rick) Hite, and as always, his kitty-kids that he adored: Tready Lee, Mitten Mae, and Patsy Sue, along with several extended family, friends, and neighbors through the years. Michael's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Hiley family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
