Maxine Elizabeth Cook, 62 of Gulfport, passed away Tuesday at Garden Park Hospital. She was born November 26, 1957 in Somerset, PA, the middle of eight children to Cecil & Ruth (Burkhart) Denney. Maxine grew up in the Somerset area, and was a free-spirited young lady from the start. She had an adventurous spirit that stuck with her through life. She enjoyed swimming, collecting ornaments and antiques, travelling, scrapbooking and lots more. Rarely if ever could she be caught without her make-up and nails done. She enjoyed getting together with friends for "primping" sessions. An outspoken woman, one that could easily speak her mind no matter what, Maxine was witty and funny, but kind and soft-spoken as well. Her recent pastimes were crossword puzzles and watching Lifetime and TLC. She loved her kids and grandkids, keeping all sorts of snacks and goodies stashed away in her room so she would have whatever they liked. Maxine is remembered as a loving mother and mother-in-law, grandmother and friend. She will be sadly missed by all whose life she touched. She was preceded by her parents, Cecil & Ruth Denney; her brother Michael and sister Diane Smay. Left to cherish her memories are: her daughter Alonda (Markus) Seger of Gulfport, sons Floyd Hutchinson of NY, Richard (Jackie) Werner of PA and Matthew (Tara) Souders of OH; grandchildren Markus Seger, II, Nicolas Touchstone, Kimberly Vaughn, Katelynn Dempsey, Madison, Morgan, and Brandon Souders, Mercedes Mootsy, and William, Richard, Leo, and Caleb Werner; great-grands Camden, Braxton, and Aaliyah Chonko, and Waylon Touchstone; her siblings, Kimberly, Leanna, and Robbie Denney, all of OR, Patsy Lawson of AR, and David Keifer of PA, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Maxine's wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. A memorial service has been set for 6:00 PM Saturday, November 30th, at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry. All who knew and loved her are welcome and encouraged to attend. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Cook family in their time of need, and asks everyone to keep them in your prayers over the coming days.
