Maxie "Bird" Frierson, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, in Mississippi. Born on September 27, 1942, in Louisiana, Maxie lived a life marked by warmth, fierce love, and an infectious spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Maxie was known for her remarkable personality; she had a way with words that could captivate a room and make everyone believe in her stories. Her laughter and stories were a source of joy for many, and she loved fiercely, especially cherishing her grandchildren and the bonds they shared. She is survived by her devoted children Barbara (Rodney) Rester, Jeffery (Jennifer) Frierson, Janice (O'Neal) Cuevas, William Todd III "Billy," and Jennifer (Kory) Lawrence. Stepchildren Houston Frierson, Jr., Tommy Dell Frierson and Billy Wayne Frierson. Maxie’s legacy lives vibrantly on through her grandchildren Randy (Lori) Rester, Kristi (Chris) Black, Matthew (Katey) Rester, Payton Frierson, Lexie (Blake) Wells, Allie Arceneaux, Bailey Mankin, Lily Mankin, and Johnny (Nicole) Carver, step-grandchildren: Jeremy Frierson, Katie Frierson, Luke Frierson, Denine Howard, Tammy Frierson, Tommy Glenn Frierson and Melissa Anderson. Her loving heart extended to her great-grandchildren Ashley Rester, Madison Duncan, Ilyana Rester, Trystane Newman, Ellen Rester, Victor Rester, Lincoln Rester, Kamryn Thigpen, Korbyn Thigpen, Kortlyn Coker, Hudson Frierson, Ruston Carver, Greenleigh Reid, Paisley Guerra, and Trenton Wells, and even to her great-great-grandchildren Baylor Rester and Myles Lester and a host of great and great-great grandchildren. She was also blessed with the enduring companionship of her siblings Jackie (Rohmale) Guidry Sr. and Elizabeth "Betty" (the late Frank Sr.) Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Maxie lovingly welcomed into heaven those who went before her: her beloved husband, Houston Frierson, Sr.; her dear parents Annie and Paul Sr. Guidry; her children Clinton Smith and Marcel Guidry; her step-grandson: Billy Wayne Frierson Jr., her precious great-grandchild Landen Thigpen; and her siblings Frances Darcey, Silvia Brown, Paulette Chladek, and Paul Guidry Jr.
