Maudie Pearl (Saucier) Ladnier

February 21, 1932 — June 11, 2020

Silver Run, MS

Maudie Pearl Ladnier, 88 of the Silver Run community, passed away Thursday morning, June 11th at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. Born February 2, 1932 at the family home in the Savannah community of Pearl River county, Maudie was the daughter and one of twelve children to Rayford & Kizzie Saucier. She grew up and went to school in Savannah, continuing her education at Pearl River Community College, where she obtained an Associate Degree in business. After spending a few years in Slidell and Texas, Maudie returned home to South MS, eventually reconnecting with her high school sweetheart, Orease Ladnier. They dated for a bit, and were married in the late 70's. He was a boilermaker which kept him on the road quite a bit. Maudie was not one to sit idle, so they opened Silver Run Community Grocery, better known to most as "Maudie's store", just so she could stay busy. Over the next 40-odd years, she kept that store open for the people of Silver Run and beyond. Any time there was a need for something they had, the door would be opened. That store became Maudie & Orease's life. She treated everyone that came through like family. Kids in the community were always "her grandbabies". If you came in with a smile, you got a treat, but if you were misbehaving, you got treated appropriately as well! She loved and accepted everyone, to a fault even, but that was Maudie. She was so much to so many people, and the community she called home. A fantastic sister, loving wife and mother, not only to her boys but so many more, she will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family, community and beyond. She was preceded by her parents, her husband and love of her life, Orease Ladnier, and seven of her siblings: H.J., Robert, Flavis, Marie, Von, Doris and Linda Nell Saucier. Left to cherish the many memories are: her sons Dusty Rhodes (Dolly) of Silver Run, and Eddie Rhodes of Florida; her grandchildren: Cayce (Tammy) Rhodes, Ryan (Christa) Rhodes and Kim Rhodes; seven great-grandchildren; her siblings: Liz Williams, Elvis Saucier, Richard Saucier, all of Perk, with George (Sandra) Saucier of Texas. There are more extended family, friends and customers over the years to even think of counting, all of whom will miss her beyond measure. The family has set visitation FOR Saturday, June 13th from 1:00 until 3:00 PM, at Silver Run Baptist Church, after which we will proceed to the Ladnier Cemetery for a graveside service at 3:30. In lieu of flowers, Maudie would be honored all the more if donations were made to the Westside Community Center, which she was instrumental in getting in place. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Ladnier family in this time and asks everyone to keep the entire family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
