Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Garcia, 79 of Gulfport, passed away Sunday afternoon. Mary was born May 30, 1939 in Cuddy, PA, one of three daughters to William J. and Mary E. (Kirkpatrick) Wallace. She spent her early years there, but the family moved to Gulfport when she was 8, and Mary spent the rest of her life here. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, crabbing, and doing yardwork, but also enjoyed home décor as well. After graduating from Gulfport HS in 1957, she focused on her children first before joining the workforce as a secretary. Mary worked for Holder Moving & Storage for a while, and then at Memorial Hospital, where she retired after 20 years of service. She is remembered as an awesome mother, always there, supportive, and non-judgmental of her children and others. A loving, compassionate lady that enjoyed family get-togethers and cookouts, she was "the best wife ever" and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded by her parents, William and Mary, as well as her two sisters, Nancy and Bobbie. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband of 58 years, Ron Garcia, Sr; their four children: daughters Rhonda (Stanley) Butler and Rene Garcia, both of Gulfport; Robbie Garcia of Bradenton, FL; their son, Ronnie (Jackie) Garcia, Jr., of Gulfport. Mary had twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grands, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Her wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Garcia family, and asks that everyone keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
