Marshall Lee Dixon, 66, passed away on August 15, 2022 at his home. He was born August 28, 1955 in Columbia, MS, part of a group of twelve and one of six children born to Henry Lee Dixon and Alice Jeanette Smith. Marshall grew up between Columbia and Baxterville, and was the outdoors type. He played basketball, enjoyed fishing and hunting arrowheads, and learned how to work on cars and trucks. He attended Baxterville schools, and when he was old enough, started hauling paperwood with his step-dad. Marshall later attended Pearl River Vo-Tech and took welding courses, spent the rest of his career as a Class A welder for Price Brothers. He is remembered as a simple, direct person with a somewhat stern demeanor. If you didn't truly know him, you might think he was angry from his appearance, but in reality, he was an easy-going, laid back kind of guy. Marshall spent most of his spare time fishing or hunting for arrowheads, and taking care "Shadow" , a female Shorkie he shared with his former wife. A loving father and grandfather, he will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched. Marshall was preceded by his mother, Alice Miller, his father Henry Dixon, and his step-father, Billy Miller; one daughter, Carmen Dixon, and six siblings: Ina Housley, Debra Stamply, Charles Dixon, Tommy Miller, Liz Miller, and Alice Beard. Left to cherish his memories are: his children, a son Matthew Dixon, and daughter Cheyenne (Daniel) Kelly, and of course his four-pawed daughter, Shadow, all of Purvis; his siblings, Elmer (Sabrina) Miller, Janice (Rex) Dennis, and Robert Dixon, all of Baxterville; his former wife and life-long friend, Cathy Piercy of Purvis. He leaves a legacy of two grandchildren, Dylan Ring and Madeline Kelly, along with numerous extended family, friends, and neighbors through the years. Services will be held Saturday, August 20th at Trinity Funeral Services in Lumberton. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by a chapel service at 2:00 PM. Afterward, marshall will be laid to rest in the Slade Missionary Baptist Church cemetery in Purvis.
