Marcus “Koolaid” Lashley, affectionately known as “Big Aktion,” departed this life on July 22, 2026, in Biloxi, Mississippi—the city where the story of his vibrant and memorable existence began on July 16, 1972. Those fortunate enough to have known Marcus recognized a boundless spirit, a wellspring of generosity, laughter, and conviction whose presence shaped and enriched countless lives.

Born in Biloxi, Marcus’s roots grew deep in the soil of his beloved hometown, nourishing a life defined by connection, loyalty, and infectious joy. He came into the world destined to leave an unmistakable impression, carrying forward a family legacy with pride and love. His unmistakable nickname, “Koolaid,” hinted at the warmth and sweetness he brought to every gathering, his luminous smile and hearty laugh forever symbols of his singular spirit.

Marcus’s journey was shared closely and lovingly with his family, each relationship marked by devotion, wisdom, and mutual support. His daughter, Shaliya Nakyle Deshay Douglas, carries forward his values and love, while his grandchildren, Ka'riyah Sanique Douglas and Legend Markeeh Doughlas, are radiant beacons of the legacy he leaves behind. Marcus’s sister, Cynthia Malone-Hooker, (husband Robert Hooker) and his brother, Fredrick Owens, shared not just the bond of family but deep friendship and understanding that endured all of life’s trials and triumphs.

He was surrounded by steadfast love, the tapestry of his life brightened by the presence of his devoted cousin Tammy Pope, cousins Latel Smith and Phelicia Boudreaux, and the camaraderie and affection of his Special friend Tashima Robinson. Family extended also to the embrace of nieces, nephews, a host of cousins, and lifelong friends, all of whom held places of honor in Marcus’s heart. These relationships were the cornerstones of his world, and to each he offered his sincerest loyalty, boundless encouragement, and, often, his legendary sense of humor.

While we celebrate the immeasurable blessings of Marcus’s life, we also remember in reverence those dear ones who have preceded him in death, whose memories remain etched into the very foundation of his journey. His beloved mother Patricia Ann Lashley Sykes and his Father William Sikes. His Maternal Grand mother and grand father Ralph and Dorothy Lashley, his sister Felicia Owens, and his three uncles Ralph Lashley Jr, Clarence Carraway Lashley - all beloved family—are surely joined together in peace, rejoicing at Marcus’s arrival into eternal rest.

To have known Marcus “Big Aktion” Lashley was to witness integrity in action, generosity unbound, and joy unrestrained. As we mourn his passing, we give thanks for his laughter, his unwavering commitment to those he loved, and the indelible mark he leaves upon our hearts.

His absence will be keenly felt, yet his legacy, rich and enduring, will live on in the stories we share, the love we continue, and the laughter that echoes in cherished memory.
