Marcelle Marie Tims, passed away on July 15, 2022 at the Asbury Hospice house in Hattiesburg, MS. Marcelle was born on September 25, 1958 in Picayune, MS, one of two children to Hewitt Robert and Violet Marie (Tyner) Stanford. Marcelle grew up as a country girl in Poplarville, MS. She graduated from Poplarville High School Class of 1976, then she earned a degree at PRCC for cosmetology and graduated Class of 1978. Since her mother owned her own salon, Marcelle went to work in her mother's shop after college. She found out quick that it wasn't for her, and only spent a brief time doing hair. So, then she found a position at Hancock Bank in Poplarville, MS and spent the next 38 years in the banking world. She enjoyed helping people and loved taking care of her customers. She became a loan officer, helping untold numbers of people through challenging times and situations, but Marcelle always found a way to "make it work". Outside the bank, she was very active in the community. Marcelle was one of the original group that started the annual Blueberry Jubilee. A Christian by faith and member of First United Methodist Church in Poplarville, she attended and served there for over 30 years. She is remembered as a loving and giving person who genuinely cared for others. She was always eager to help anyone in any way she could, both professionally and personally. She loved spending time with her granddaughter, and she was always the first one in line to pick her up from kindergarten every day. Her love and devotion to her family and others will surely be missed by all whose life she touched. Marcelle is preceded in death by her parents, Hewitt Stanford and Violet Stanford. Marcelle is survived by her loving husband, Philip Tims; daughter, Kaitlyn (Caleb) Magee; sister, Sheila (Tommy) Burkett, and granddaughter, Lainey Magee. A visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Poplarville on Wednesday July 20, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with internment at Murray Hill Church of God of Poplarville church cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Tims Family during this difficult time and would ask that you remember them in your prayers in the days to come.
