Ms. Maezell Kathleen Dickinson, 90 of Pass Christian, passed away Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter and son in law. Maezell was the 5th of 6 children to William and Goldie (Scott) Battles, born March 8, 1928 in Arkansas. The family moved to Missouri, and she grew up in the St. Louis area. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and making clothes, quilting, and when she had time, swimming. She was a remarkable, hard working woman, who began at a young age, and worked until she was 82 years old. Maezell worked for the University of Missouri for many years, "retiring" in 1993. She loved her Tigers so much that she continued to work for the Athletic Department for many years. Maezell was a determined lady that loved and cared for her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded by her parents, and 4 of her 5 siblings, Frank, Virgil, Fred, and Wanda Battles. She is survived by her children: a daughter, Kathy (Chris) Waterfield of Pass Christian, MS., and sons, Kenny (Sarah) Dickinson of St. Louis, Alan (Debbie) Dickinson of Columbia, Steve (Candy) Dickinson of Russellville, AR., and Mark Dickinson of Boonville, MO; her brother, Cliff Battles; ten grandchildren, 5 great-grands, several nieces, nephews, and many friends and neighbors through the years. Her final wishes were to be cremated, and returned home to Columbia, which her family is honoring. A graveside service is set for Saturday, March 2, 2019, 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to assist the Dickinson family in their time of need here in South MS, and asks everyone to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
