Lucas W. Phillips

August 23, 1979 — August 28, 2024

Moss Point

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lucas William Phillips, who left this world on August 28, 2024, at the age of 45. Lucas passed peacefully at home (per his wishes), in Moss Point, MS, with his loving husband, Andy Ehlers, by his side. Born on August 23, 1979, in Montpelier, VT, Lucas was a beloved son, brother, husband, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of unwavering dedication to those he loved, humor, and leadership. Lucas grew up in Lamoine, ME where he cultivated a deep love for adventure, engineering, and computer science. As a child Lucas' energetic and curious brain cultivated many talents and hobbies. His friends and family fondly remember talents including rewiring household entertainment systems to all play one (generally naughty) video, building elaborate firework/explosive displays, continuous tinkering and rebuilding of his go-carts and Saabs, and running multiple home businesses (never-ending yard sale, lemonade stands to "support the church", and computer set-up/service work). Lucas' love of travel and adventure lead him away from Maine shortly after graduating Mount Desert Island High School in 1997. Lucas and his best friend, Shannon MacGregor Grant, moved to Pensacola, FL where Lucas quickly fell in love with the south. Eventually, Lucas made his way to his husband Andy and their forever home in Moss Point, MS. Lucas and Andy owned Looney Binz (Bin store), where Lucas never met a stranger, and touched the lives of everyone who came through the door. Though his life was far too short, Lucas lived it fully, with passion, love, curiosity, and humor. His presence in our lives was a gift, and his memory will forever be cherished. Lucas is survived by his husband, Andy Ehlers, his mother, Karen Phillips, and his siblings, Candace Laramore, Chip Phillips, and Autumn Allen. He will be deeply missed by his extended family and countless friends. Lucas was warmly received by many who passed before him including his father, Wilfred Phillips, his nephew, Lukas Phillips, his uncle, William Phillips, and his grandmothers, Dorthy Walsh Phillips and Mary Bofinger. Lucas's heart was as big as his boundless spirit. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, and commonly put others ahead of himself. His infectious smile and positive energy lifted everyone around him. Rest in peace, Lucas. Your spirit will never fade, and your legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew you. Celebrations of Lucas's life will be announced soon, where friends and family will gather to remember the incredible person he was. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Phillips family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
