Loyd Thomas Hicks, Jr., 53, passed away on September 22, 2026, at Singing River Hospital in Gulfport, MS. Loyd was born on July 4, 1973, in St. Louis, MO, to Loyd Thomas Hicks, Sr. and Debra Hartle Hicks.

Loyd was a truck driver for most of his life, traveling across the country and making friends wherever the road took him. His CB handle, “Ramblin Man,” was fitting for a man who loved the open road and never met a stranger. He also proudly served four years in the United States Navy.

Loyd was young at heart and passionate about the things he loved. He was an avid antique car enthusiast and especially looked forward to Cruisin’ the Coast, which he considered much like Christmas. He owned several antique vehicles and loved nothing more than tinkering with them. A self-taught mechanic, Loyd could learn how to fix just about anything and was always willing to share what he knew or lend a helping hand.

Above all else, Loyd loved his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, Pop Pop, brother, and friend. He was a strong and stoic man with a big presence and strong opinions, but beneath that was a deeply loving man who made sure the people around him were cared for. Loyd was the kind of person who would help anyone who needed him, and his family could always be proud of the man he was. He may not have been perfect, but he was genuine, brave, strong, and loved deeply.

Loyd was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Thomas Hicks, Sr.; his grandparents; and his brother, Tommy Hicks.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Nancy Hicks; his children, Jimmy (Tab) Lawley, Jennifer (Mike) Smith, Alex (Rachel) Williams, Justin (Brittnay) Clark, Taylor (Eric) Westfall, James (Caitlin) Kneiss, Leslie (Blake) Smith, Clayton (Jessie) Biere, and Ashley Beckenbach; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his mother, Debra Raymo; his sister, Debbie; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Loyd leaves behind a legacy of love, family, friendship, and countless memories made along the way. His presence was larger than life, and the love he gave to his family will remain with them always. Though his journey came far too soon, his memory will continue to live on in the people he loved and the lives he touched.
