Lewis Edward Rhodes

Lewis Edward Rhodes, Sr., 81, of Trinity, TX peacefully passed away in his sleep on January 22, 2021. Lewis was born on March 4, 1939 in Gulfport, MS, the son of J.W. “Jake” Rhodes and Mildred Marjorie (Campbell) Rhodes. He is brother to Betty Jean Tootle, Jesse Robert Rhodes and Harold Gene Rhodes.  He was a beloved son, husband, father and grandfather. Lewis served in the Army National Guard in Ogden, UT. He had many varied interests and jobs in life, working for the US Postal Service before becoming self-employed and pursuing several business ventures. He loved being in the outdoors and spent most of his life following his passion in logging. Lewis was a born-again Christian and charter member of the Wiggins Church of God before moving to Trinity, TX., where he was a member of the River of Life Church until his passing.

Lewis was married to Ethel Colleen Smith Rhodes July 19, 1958. They celebrated their love for one another for over 62 years, faithfully falling asleep together holding hands. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all whose life he touched. Lewis was preceded by his parents, his two brothers and his eldest daughter, Debra Lee Rhodes.  Left to cherish his memories are: his daughter Barbara Rhodes, and sons Lewis Rhodes Jr., Jeff Rhodes, David Rhodes and Timothy Rhodes. He leaves a legacy of 10 grand-children, 10 great grand-children and numerous extended family and friends through the years.

Services will be held at Trinity Funeral Services, 319 US 49, McHenry, MS. Visitation will be Tuesday January 26th beginning at 9:00 AM, with a chapel service set for 11:00 AM. Graveside will be private for the family at New Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in Ramsey Springs.
