"Butch" Leroy McQueen, 74, of Wiggins, MS., peacefully entered his heavenly rest, Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in his home, surrounded by his family. Butch, as everyone knew him, was born in McHenry, on August 5, 1948, to the late Leroy and Jeanette (Saucier) McQueen, Sr. Butch grew up in the McHenry and Perkinston area, mastering auto mechanics and his love for meat and potatoes, from a young age. Throughout life, Butch loved the outdoors and found himself to be an avid fisherman, spending most of his days on the water with his fishing buddy and brother, Mitchell. Most nights, if you knew Butch, (or Butchy, if you REALLY knew him), he usually had a guitar in hand, just 'a pickin and a grinnin'. Some may even remember his band, "Butch McQueen and The Silver Dollar Band", where Butch would cut up on the mic, singing lead. In 1993 he married the love of his life, Judy, and for more than thirty years they raised kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Butch loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and well-earned the names Butch, Daddy, and most importantly PawPaw. Butch will always be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him, as he was truly one of a kind that could never be replaced. He was preceded by his parents Leroy and Jeanette McQueen; one brother, Mitchell McQueen; and one sister Christine McQueen. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of thirty years, Judy McQueen of Wiggins; his children, Michael (Deborah) Cannon, Suzette (David) Jetton, Brian (Cassandra) McQueen, Dexter McQueen, and Jessica (Justin) Osbon; two brothers Clyde McQueen and Bud (Karen) McQueen; two sisters Lucy (Lynn) Eley of McHenry, and Mary Ragsdale of LA. Butch leaves a legacy of sixteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Services for Butch will be Monday, June 12, 2023, at Ten Mile Baptist Church in Perkinston. Visitation begins at 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at noon. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in McHenry. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the McQueen family during this time and asks that you remember Judy and the rest of Butch's family in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
