Lawrence George Englert, Jr.

Lawrence George Englert, Jr., age forever young at heart, left this world with a blaze of glory on December 3, 2020. He was born in New Orleans, LA September 20, 1947 to Lawrence Sr. and Althea Englert. And New Orleans has never been the same. He is preceded in death by his parents. Larry, as most called him, leaves behind many memories, and smiles with his wife and best sidekick, June Englert; daughters and sons in law, Elizabeth and Daryl Fury, Susan and Paul Skillman; bonus children, Caroline Purser and John Chetuck; grandkids, David, John, Logan, Kaitlyn and Izabel; sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Roy Vinot Sr.; an old friend he hadn’t seen in 25 years, Jack Daniels along with extended family and friends. Larry was a practical jokester, king of Dad jokes and all-around goofball. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, smoking just about anything that involved being outside. He lived a good life and met many celebrities including Fats Dominos, Justin Wilson, Freddy Fender and Chuck Jones to name a few. No doubt, Larry was the life of their parties. He had a file cabinet full of dirty jokes and didn’t own a filter for his mouth. You never knew what would come out of his mouth and when it would stop. Of all the people he touched, both willing and unwilling, his most proud achievement in life was marrying his wife, June, who supported him in all his glory during his heyday, and lovingly supported him physically during their last days together. To honor Larry, a memorial fund has been set up at the funeral home to help other families out during their difficult time.
