Larry Wayne Bond, a life-long resident of Gulfport, MS, passed away on June 28, 2025, leaving a legacy of laughter, love for the land, and a heart full of memories for those who knew him. Born on April 15, 1970, in the same town he would breathe his last, Larry was a man whose roots ran as deep as the mighty oaks of his beloved Mississippi. Larry was a proud graduate of Poplarville High School, where he embraced his 'country boy' education, a foundation that would serve him well throughout his life. His work with the county as a mechanic and truck driver was a testament to his enduring work ethic and proficiency with the machines that are the lifeblood of rural America. Raised on a farm, a tradition he proudly upheld, Larry's hands were rarely idle, his presence was a constant in the fields and the engine rooms where he was a familiar face. His love of the land was matched only by his passion for hunting and trapping, specifically coyotes, where he spent many an hour in the tranquility of nature. Yet it was his love for his 'little buddy' James and his sidekick, his dog Stella Mae, that will forever paint the picture of a man who cherished the companionship of those he held dear. Larry's home was a place of warmth and welcome, where boiled shrimp and crawfish were not just a meal, but a weekly celebration of family and friendship. In his younger days, the rodeo called to Larry, an arena where his daring and skill were on full display. Later, he found a similar thrill in the racetracks of the dirt-circuit, helping with the races or simply being a part of the crowd; his presence was as steadfast as the humming engines he loved. Larry's absence leaves a void in the tapestry of the Gulfport community, a place where he was most content in the company of friends, sharing a laugh or lending a hand. He lived a life that exemplified the values of perseverance, joy, and the importance of kinship. As the sun sets in the Mississippi sky, Larry's memory endures, an emblem of all that is good and sincere in the heart of rural America. His journey has ended where it began, in the town of Gulfport, amidst the fields he cherished and the people he loved. Larry Wayne Bond's memory will forever be etched into the landscape he called home, and in the hearts of those who were fortunate to have known him.
