Kenneth Ray Mouton, fondly known as "Sarge," 82, peacefully passed away and joined his “Angel” December 1, 2024. Born on December 26, 1941, in Youngsville, Louisiana, he was the cherished son of Joseph (Dee) and Hilda Mouton. After graduating from high school, Kenneth proudly served in the Marine Corps for eight years. His military service was a defining chapter of his life, shaping the man he would become. Following his time in the Marines, Kenneth continued his commitment to service by joining the New Orleans Army National Guard for two years. He met the love of his life while he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan at Kadena Airforce base. They married and started their family in Japan before moving back to the US, doing a short stint in California before settling near his parents in Bridge City, LA. Kenneth's professional life was equally distinguished. He dedicated 33 years to Avondale Shipyard. He received the nickname “Sarge” while working at the shipyard, leaving no question that he still embodies the discipline and values that were instilled in him during his military service. Upon retirement, he and Angel made their home in Hillsdale/Lumberton, Mississippi, where Kenneth's talents as a craftsman were evident in the beautiful Japanese Tori Gate he built to honor his wife. He took meticulous care of his home and with such great pride. When his legs still followed orders he would spend his time in the garage, listening to some good ole’ oldies and country music while working out on his stationary bike or lifting weights. He made scrap books during his retirement, always wanting to keep the memories alive and show others his great accomplishments, with his career, wife, and all he worked so hard for. He found joy in the simple pleasures of riding his golf cart, chatting it up with neighbors, snacking, and playing on his iPad. His cat, Princess, was often by his side, playfully tapped with his Marine Corps cane. But above all, he cherished the moments spent with his family and friends, with whom he shared countless stories, laughter, and wisdom. He had a knack for deep and meaningful conversations. Kenneth always made sure to teach his children the importance of manners, respect, and hard work, lessons that will endure through generations. His tattoos, a testament to his life experiences, were a source of pride, and he often shared humorous advice with his grandchildren about how your body could change and that shark may look more like a minnow or that bulldog may be a chihuahua now. Just before his passing he made his home at St. Oaks Care Center in Carriere, Mississippi. There, he met many new friends and enjoyed playing games while thoroughly embracing life in a new environment. Kenneth was a modest man and chose to be laid to rest by cremation. Family and friends can honor his legacy by always saying I Love You to the ones you care about, supporting Veterans, and loving your family. He is preceded by his wife, Katsu Angel Mouton; and his parents, Joseph and Hilda Mouton. Left to cherish his memories are his Brothers David (Joyce) Mouton and Carroll (Monie) Mouton, Sister, Debbie (Larry) Shaw; children, Ken (Robin) Mouton, Kathy (Vincent) Nuzzo, Karen (Mike) Boone, Kenneth (Sarah) Haley; grandchildren, Cameron (Laina) Nuzzo, Donovan Mouton, Avery Mouton, Tyler Nuzzo, Keith Gonzales, Jr. (Adelyn), Kenneth Gonzales, Katelynn Gonzales (Chance), Whisper Haley, Alyssa Haley; great grandchildren, Izabella Mouton, Axel Mouton, Skylar Nuzzo, Korbin Gandy; extended family Barry (Theresa) Dunn along with many beloved friends.
