Kenneth William Harmon, affectionately known as Ken, was born on September 24, 1956, in Lincoln, Illinois. He peacefully left us on November 19, 2025, in East Haddam, Connecticut, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and resilience.

Ken led a life filled with diverse experiences; he initially worked as a painter, predominantly in commercial roles, and later embraced a career as a commercial driver until health challenges led him to retire. His dedication to his work was paralleled by his service in the United States Navy, where he spent four years as an Aviation Boatswain's Mate aboard the USS Eisenhower and the USS Nimitz.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ken was known for his tremendous spirit. He had a great sense of humor and a captivating personality that made him incredibly outgoing and fun to be around. Ken was inquisitive and kind-hearted, always eager to lend a helping hand, a trait vividly illustrated in the memories of his mission trips where he touched the lives of many.

Throughout his life, Ken faced personal challenges, including struggles with alcohol and substance abuse in his younger years. However, demonstrating remarkable strength and determination, he sought help and became a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, maintaining his sobriety for more than 30 years. One of his proudest moments was being baptized alongside his brother John in October 2007 at Red Creek in Perkinston, Mississippi, showcasing his deep connection to his faith and to his church community at Tuxachena Baptist Church.

Ken had a passion for sports, especially NASCAR and football, which were cherished pastimes that brought him joy. His laughter, generous spirit, and the expression "I didn't know they could do that!" will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Nina Harmon; his brother, John Harmon, and his sister, Diane Gerhart. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Geraldine Norman; his father, Paul E. Harmon; and his brothers, Tom Harmon and Jim Harmon. Ken's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family honored.

A memorial service to celebrate Ken's remarkable life will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Tuxachena Baptist Church in Perkinston, Mississippi. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and remember a man whose warmth and humor will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who loved him. Following the service, Ken will be interred in the church cemetery beside his brothers.
