Mr. Kenneth Ray Donald, Sr., 58 of Saucier, went home to heaven on Wednesday afternoon in Gulfport. Kenny Ray was born June 15, 1960 in Gulfport, the 4th of 8 children to Hubert L. & Lelia Donald. He grew up in the Gulfport area, and was a spirited, outgoing young man from the start. He was the protector of his siblings, especially his sisters, and they would let him think he was the "boss" from time to time. Kenny Ray was a definite "momma's boy", and was never short for words. A strong-willed guy, he enjoyed a good argument, where he always tried to win. He loved trucks and the outdoors, and wanted to follow his daddy. He went to work at a young age, with his first real job at Bay Ice where his dad worked. He developed a passion for driving, and eventually made a career as an over the road truck driver. Kenny had recently been attending Campground Baptist Church, and with his health issues compounding, remarked recently that he was ready "to go home to heaven". He is remembered as a loving and protective son and brother that was very close to his siblings. A simple man, he was a devoted father and grandfather, who liked nothing more than being with family and friends, playing cards, and tinkering with cars and trucks. He will be fondly remembered, and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded by his father, Hubert L. Donald, and one sister, Norma Jean Donald. Left to cherish his memories are his children: daughters Alicia (Mike) Benfield of Saucier, and Candie (Larry) Smart of Biloxi; one son, Kenneth R. Donald, Jr. of Orange Grove; their mother, Missy Donald; four grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Hayden and Alissa Donald, Gabe Benfield, and Shilo Smart; his six siblings: Mary Malone, Danny (Virginia) Donald, and Charles Donald, all of Gulfport, Peggy Ravoira of McHenry, Theresa (Tommy) Doherty of AL, and Joseph Eley, Sr of Saucier; his loving mother, Lelia Donald of Gulfport; along with numerous extended family and friends. The family will receive friends for visitation at 11:30 AM on Monday, Sept. 24th at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry. A chapel service is set for 2:00 PM, and interment will follow at Three Rivers Church of God Cemetery in Gulfport. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Donald family, and asks that you keep them all in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
