Kelly “Killer” Godwin, affectionately known by many as “Killer,” passed away peacefully in Gulfport, Mississippi. Born on May 29, 1956, to the late Colon Godwin and Christine Mitchell Dubaz, he lived a life marked by grit, loyalty, and unshakable love for the people he held dear.

The nickname “Killer” came not from anything harsh, but from his skill and passion in the outdoors—a true hunter, fisherman, and master of the bow. He was sharp-minded, outspoken, and unafraid to tell you exactly what he thought. Hard around the edges and old-fashioned in spirit, he carried the toughness of an “old timer,” but those who really knew him understood the deeper truth: he had a soft, devoted heart, especially for his family.

Colon loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with every bit of his being. They were his pride, his joy, and his reason for everything. Family time—whether hunting, fishing, or simply being together—was where he felt most at home.

His greatest blessing in life was his loving, devoted wife, Deborah, who stood by his side for 38 years. Their marriage was a powerful example of endurance, loyalty, and unwavering love. She walked with him through every challenge, showing a partnership that many admired and respected.

Colon was a man of strength and honesty, intelligent and straightforward, a presence you never had to guess about. He lived life boldly and on his own terms, and he cared fiercely for those he loved.

Colon is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Deborah Godwin; his daughter, Renee (Ray) Box; grandchildren, Loretta “Lori” (Zach) Clark, Emily (Deon) Bradford, Chase (Malerie) Box, and Ray (Devada) Box; and great-grandchildren, Ainsley Bradford, Aria Bradford, Arabella Bradford, Jaxson Havard, Lili Clark, Savannah Clark, Kaysten Box, Audreigh McVay, Chase Box Jr., Laken Box, Bretton Box, and Bentley Box. He is also survived by his siblings, Johnny Britt, Daphine Cazeaux, Denise Pollard, and Jerrilyn Neumaier, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Godwin Family and asks that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during these challenging times.
